Our Team
Our Mediators are trained professionals who have all undergone a rigorous screening process prior to being approved by the Ministry of the Attorney General to work for our agency. Our clinical mediators meet the requirements for accreditation with the Ontario Association for Family Mediation (OAFM) and can help you with parenting time, decision-making responsibility, communication, and parenting plans. Some of our Mediators are Lawyers and are fully qualified to help you with financial and property matters. We offer a confidential service with a dedicated professional to facilitate your amicable agreement.

Board of Directors​
Our dedicated and hard-working volunteer board members guide our agency and provide their input on policies and procedures. We host our AGM each year in November. Please contact us by email or phone for more information.
Our 2025/2026 Board members are:
Chairperson: Mr. Scott MacDonald
Scott holds the position of Chairperson of the Board of Directors. He joined the Board in 2014. Scott has retired from his position as a Supervisor with the Kawartha Haliburton Children’s Aid Society.
Vice Chair: Mr. Steve Dyer
Steve holds the position of Vice Chair of the Board of Directors. Steve is a Police Officer with the Peterborough Police Service. He joined our board in 2016.
Board Member: Mr. Chao Gao
Chao is a CPA and works for Grant Thornton as a Senior Manager of Tax Services. He joined the Board in 2024 and currently holds the position of Chair of the Finance Committee.
Board Member: Ms. Jan Horner
Jan is a retired Youth Probation Officer. She holds the position of Chair of our Recruitment Committee and Vice Chair of the Personnel Committee. Jan joined our Board in 2019.
Board Member: Ms. Shannon Smith
Shannon is a Family Law Lawyer. She holds the position of Vice Chair of the Community Relations Committee. Shannon joined our Board in December 2019.

Board Member: Curtis Pineiro
Curtis is a Family Law Lawyer and has been practicing in Peterborough and the surrounding area since 2013. He joined our Board in September 2023.

Board Member: Cathleen Martherus
Cathleen is a retired principal who is currently the Education Liaison working with Kawartha Haliburton CAS. She is a collaborative leader with over 30 years of service in education, including 17 years of diverse experience in system and school level leadership, building capacity, change management and fostering partnerships. She has held a variety of different leadership roles including Secondary Principal Norwood District High School, Elementary Principal Norwood District Intermediate School, Vice Principal Thomas A. Stewart Secondary School, Vice Principal Bowmanville High School, Acting System Vice Principal Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board, Pathways Consultant Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board and Cooperative Education Lead Teacher Peterborough Collegiate and Vocational School.
